Isaiah 9:6

Introduction
Jesus Will Lead and Defend Us As The Mighty God He IS!

1. Mighty God

Mighty - El Gibbor - This could be rendered "God is a Warrior" or "God is mighty." Ultimately this name speaks of God's military might - for no enemy will be able to prevail against Him. He has the power to deliver which is exactly what He will do to fulfill Isaiah's prophecy.

“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribes.” Deuteronomy 10:17

“Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.” Psalm 24:8

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

The word mighty relates to the king’s leadership role. As Israel’s Mighty God, the Messiah will be a brave and powerful leader ruling over the armies of God like no other king before Him.

The birth of Jesus is the beginning of the Messiah’s reign. Jesus is ‘God with Us.’

Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus Christ exhibited a different kind of leadership strength than the Jewish people had come to expect.

In every aspect of Jesus’ life and ministry, from His conception to His ascension, Jesus operated with divine power and authority.

Christ’s supernatural acts confirmed that Jesus is Mighty God.

As Mighty God, Jesus rose from the dead and now sits at God’s right hand in heaven, high above every other authority, power, and leader not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

As Mighty God, Jesus will judge all the people of the earth. Then He will sit on His eternal throne and reign in great power and authority. Every creature in heaven and on earth will bow down and worship Him.

“And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:9-11

1. Our Mighty God!

Jesus Christ is God, and He is MIGHTY GOD…how do I see the MIGHTY GOD manifesting himself in my life? His mighty power is available to us today.

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding; so to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.”

Colossians 1:9-11

Whatever may be your burden or battle today, God has the power to meet it, handle it, solve it, and use it for your good and his glory. Jesus Christ is the ‘Mighty God’ and his power is available to you and me today!
