Exodus 23:20-24:18
Introduction

Our Covenant with God means He will Fight for Us and We will Experience His Presence

I. God Will Fight for Us (Exodus 23:20-33)
v.1 – “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to
the place that I have prepared.”
God is the protector of the Israelites. He will go before them and enable them to
overcome all adversity and opposition. He will allow Israel to triumph and to reach the
finish line.
In verses 32–33, God warns the Israelites of the pitfalls of sin, describing sin as a
“snare.” For the people of Israel, sin will be a constant impediment to their progress, an obstacle in their path.
Sin would have a similar effect on the people of God, making an already long trip much longer. This is not simply true for the Israelites, however. Sin can create roadblocks and detours in our personal journeys as well.

II. We will Experience His Presence (24:1-18)
Exodus 24:3–8, the Hebrew people make covenant with their God, publicly declaring
their commitment and obedience to the Book of the Covenant and the laws and
guidelines established therein.
Exodus 24:15–18 displays the unparalleled intimacy that Moses shared with
God. To say that Moses had a very close relationship with God is a massive
understatement!
Moses sacrificed and dedicated his time to God, spending forty days and forty nights
with him on the mountain called Sinai (v. 18).
.
III. Conclusion
Look what Jesus has done for us! He fought our greatest battle in sin and has given us
his presence continually.
