Daniel 2:26-49
Introduction
The Kingdom of Man is Temporary, The Kingdom of God is Eternal
- Daniel’s Humility
v.26-30 -
“But as for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because of any wisdom that I have more than all the living but in order that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your mind.”
- Daniel’s Reveals the Dream
v.31-45 – the interpretation of the statue
v.36 –“God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, and the might and the glory…”
God is sovereign of ALL things including governments, kings, presidents, etc.
“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings…” – Daniel 2:21
“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.” Proverbs 21:1
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” Romans 13:1
v.44,45 – The Kingdom of God – Jesus is the Stone
“…just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke into pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain and its interpretation sure.”
“But he looked directly at them and said, What then is this that is written: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken into pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” Luke 20:17,18
Let us follow the words of Jesus and seek the kingdom of God, the eternal kingdom:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
- Daniel’s Reward
v.46-49 – King Neb rewards Daniel and his friends
Daniel served in the King’s court.
Jeremiah 29:1-14
- Closing
We are EXILED people as well and our King (the Stone) will come again and establish the Kingdom that will never be shaken and will stand forever!
The Kingdom of man is passing away, but the Kingdom of God is eternal and will remain forever.
