Exodus 13:17-15:21
Introduction

The Lord is Worthy of Praise Through All of Life’s Journey
I. Life is a Journey
v.17, 18 – “God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red
Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle.”
14:10 – ‘When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them and they feared greatly.”
Fear produces COMPLAINING and faith produces CONFIDENCE (Trust).
14:11 – “They said to Moses, ‘Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have
taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of
Egypt? Is not this what we said to you in Egypt; leave us alone that we may serve the
Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness?”
Egypt’s recipe for disaster: reject God and His justice, an increase of pride and sin, a
loss of common sense, a season of terror, and then comes ruin. We must be careful!
14:30 – “Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and
Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Israel saw the great power that the
LORD used against the Egyptians, so that people feared the LORD, and they believed
in the LORD and in his servant Moses.”
II. The Lord is Worthy of Praise
The Song of the Sea is from the beginning praise to God for his power. His deliverance
from the Egyptians forever shows his faithfulness to his covenant. The Egyptians were
destroyed for their evil, not because Israel’s goodness.
“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.” Psalm 40:3
15:11-13 – “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in
holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? You stretched out your right
hand; the earth swallowed them. You have led in your steadfast love the people whom
you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.”
Through life’s journey we should always sing praise to God…because He is worthy!

“Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice.” Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
