Scripture
Introduction
Because of the gospel, we are to be generous and make disciples

I. GENEROUS
The fourth value ‘G’ is GENEROUS.
Generosity comes in many different forms. But how we are generous and why we are
generous are truly matters of the heart.
First, we’re sacrificial in our generosity.
We are to be sacrificial in our time, talents, and treasures.
“But as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness,
and in our love for you – see that you excel in this act of grace also.” 2 Corinthians 8:7
Second, we are monetarily generous.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows
bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God love a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6,7
“Let temporal things serve your use, but the eternal be the object of your desire.”
Thomas A. Kempis
“Jesus Christ said more about money than about any other single thing because, when
it comes to a man’s real nature, money is of first importance. Money is an exact index to
a man’s true character. All through Scripture there is an intimate correlation between the
development of a man’s character and how he handles his money.” Richard Halverson
II. Go
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. God therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I
am with your always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
First, this happens locally. This commandment wasn’t given to make converts, but
disciples. This happens locally by the two values above. This GO value is to share the
gospel message with unbelievers God has placed in our path. We pray and look for God
to open doors for us to love others genuinely and share our faith.

“…pray for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of
Christ, on account of which I am in prison – that I may make it clear, which is how I
ought to speak.” Colossians 4:3,4
Not only locally, but personally – two questions – who is discipling you and who are you
discipling? Each person should have a Paul, Barnabas and Timothy in their lives!
Second, this happens globally. We just don’t GO locally, we also GO globally! God
has given this mandate to take the gospel around the world. To go and serve our
brothers and sisters in foreign countries and train them to GO and share the gospel
message to their people.
We build international disciples as we spend time and resources to equip men and
women all around the world as a church and through our relationship with Grace
Partnership. Our prayer is to speak the gospel boldly to all locally and globally.
“And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak
your word with all boldness…” Acts 4:29
III. Conclusion
Because of the gospel, we are to be generous and make disciples
