1 Peter 1:13-25
Introduction

Our Living Hope Empowers Our Minds, Our Lives, and Our Love
I. Our Living Hope Empowers Our Minds (v.13)
v.13 – “…set your hope your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the
revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Peter does such a good job in making sure we are clear as to who the object of our
hope is supposed to be: The object of our Hope is Jesus Christ and him alone.
Anything less would mean we do not have our HOPE FULLY IN CHRIST.
“Prepare your minds for action…”
We have to be alert and focused on Christ in preparing our minds for action…We have
to be focused, because there are so many other things that we will be tempted along
the way to put our hope in, and Peter wants us to know we have to be prepared
mentally for keeping our hope in Christ alone!
“…and being sober-minded…”
Our hope is to be wholehearted and unwavering!
II. Our Living Hope Empowers Our Lives (v.14-21)
v.14 – “As obedient children…”
This great inheritance that we have in Christ should motivate us more than anything
else in the world to live in such a way that PROVES that we are a people who are
looking forward to the reward we have in Christ!
v.16 – “…be holy as I am holy…”
“For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am
holy.” Leviticus 11:44
God’s command to “Be Holy for I am holy,” by showing that the true meaning for
Christians is for us to have a conduct all around that is like that of Christ…
ARE YOU motivated to continue living as a person who has been called out of that
ignorance and called to be Holy…
Conduct Ourselves with Fear
The reason we are to conduct ourselves with fear during the time of our exile is because
we’ve been ransomed by the precious blood of Christ…

III. Our Living Hope Empowers Our Love (v.22-25)
“…love one another earnestly from a pure heart.”
The call to love one another earnestly is one of the ways we most honor Christ in our
conduct here on this earth.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12
IV. Conclusion
Our Living Hope Empowers Our Minds, Our Lives, and Our Love
